Project Brief

The project aims to increase access to quality education at primary schools by maximizing the utilization of Information Communication Technology (ICT) and STEM approach to provide an experiential learning to the students for understanding about the concepts on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics by enhancing teacher capacities and creating child and learner friendly setting for children. This will help in achieving age and grade appropriate competencies. thereby improving the learning outcomes in Adi Dravidar Welfare Residential Schools at Ariyalur District. Overall, this project will help in strengthening the eco system of education by promoting safe school concept and equipping the children with quality learning to overcome the challenge of learning crisis which is experiencing across schools due to traditional teaching methods, lack of infrastructure facilities and strong foundational skills at primary level. The overall the project intervention will support to improve learning outcomes through encouraging innovative techno-based pedagogy and ensuing community and school relation to enhance the community participation in school management with de-centralised school management under the lenses of inclusion and theory of change with establishing a sustainable and replicable model in project states with child-centric teaching and learning approaches.





Goal

To develop 25 Adi Dravidar Welfare Schools as a model of quality Learning Hub to facilitate a holistic development of the children

Specific Objectives

- 1. Establishing learner-friendly infrastructure in schools to promote experiential learning.

- 1. Building the capacity of teachers to integrate child-centric pedagogy for ensuring child participation.

- 1. Strengthening school and community relations to take an active role in school development.

Project Beneficiaries

The project intervention will be benefiting eligible children from the entire district covering more than 60 villages approximately.
- 5050 children in the age group of 6 to 10 years, studying in Grades 1-5 from the selected 25 Adi Dravidar Welfare schools in the district (Boys - 2625 Girls - 2425)
- Project will also benefit 470 parents and SMC members through direct engagement within school and also the community (Male - 150 Female - 100)
- 100 teachers/ head teachers (Male - 120 Female - 78)
- Government officials at the cluster, block, District and State level 25 (Male - 15 Female - 10)

Through the proposed intervention,



the project will adopt a strategy wherein the quality of education is improved in a systemic way by engaging with key duty bearers at all levels and offering sustainable solutions utilizing technology resources with:
- Creating FLN (Foundational Literacy and Numeracy Platform at Primary level)
- Establishing happy rooms
- Strengthening school libraries
- Introducing BLES (Building a learning environment in schools)

Job Purpose

To work as Academic Facilitator to support Teachers in project schools with academic inputs to create a child and learner friendly environment in selected government schools. The role is to provide on-job academic support to the Teachers to work on innovative subject specific pedagogies to make class rooms more vibrant with child centric teaching learning process. Besides to this, understanding the key challenges on low learning among primary school and secondary school children to bridge the learning to the children to achieve age and grade appropriate curriculum to achieve desired learning competencies among all children in schools. Creating experiential learning through ICT enabled education, promoting STEM approach (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics concepts) and concepts by providing STEM tools to the students to have an experiential learning.
