Role Description This full-time, on-site Assistant Professor – Interior Design role is based at the Dev Bhoomi Uttarakhand University campus in Dehradun. The role involves planning and delivering undergraduate and postgraduate courses in interior design, preparing syllabi and lesson plans, and conducting lectures, studio sessions, and critiques that integrate theory, technical skills, and design thinking.

The Assistant

Professor is expected to guide student projects and portfolios, supervise internships or dissertations where applicable, and assess student performance through assignments, reviews, and examinations.





Responsibilities also include developing curriculum materials aligned with current design industry practices, participating in departmental meetings and academic committees, and contributing to research, publications, exhibitions, or consulting activities in interior design and related fields. The role requires active engagement in mentoring students, supporting co-curricular events, and contributing to the university’s cooperative and inclusive academic culture.

Qualifications

- Advanced academic preparation in Interior Design or a closely related field (minimum Master’s degree; PhD or equivalent research experience is an advantage).
- Demonstrated expertise in interior design fundamentals, spatial planning, materials and finishes, building services coordination, and design studio teaching.
- Proficiency in design software and digital tools commonly used in interior design practice (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, 3D visualization, Adobe Creative Suite) and the ability to integrate them into teaching.
- Experience in curriculum development, lesson planning, and outcome-based education, with the ability to align course content with industry standards and accreditation requirements.
- Strong teaching, mentoring, and classroom management skills, with a student-centered approach and commitment to inclusive and equitable learning environments.
- Evidence of scholarly or professional engagement, such as research, publications, design practice, competitions, exhibitions, or consultancy in interior or architectural design.
