Job Summary
The Assistant Payroll Manager is responsible for managing end-to-end payroll operations, ensuring timely and accurate salary processing while maintaining compliance with statutory regulations and company policies. The role involves coordinating with HR, Finance, and external vendors, resolving payroll-related queries, managing payroll records, and driving process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Key Responsibilities and Deliverables
- Large-Scale Payroll Processing: Oversee and manage large payrolls while maintaining solid control over numbers and accuracy.
- System & Vendor Management: Maintain hands-on working experience with in-house systems and manage relationships with outsourcing firms while handling payroll processing for large clients.
- Financial Acumen & Accounting: Apply financial understanding and accounting knowledge to handle monthly salary JVs (Journal Vouchers), prepare month-end salary schedules, and complete month-end closing activities related to salary.
- Statutory Compliance:
Maintain in-depth understanding and oversight of Income Tax provisions, Gratuity provisions, PF (Provident Fund) provisions, and other salary-related statutory compliances including the Labour Codes provisions related to Payroll.
- Payroll Analytics: Perform payroll analysis to support data-driven decisions and operational oversight.
- Full & Final Settlements: Manage and execute the complete employee Full and Final
Settlement process.
- Stakeholder Management: Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills when liaising with different functional partners across the organization.
- Software Proficiency: Utilize advanced Google Sheets/Excel skills and working knowledge of
Google Slides/Microsoft PowerPoint for data management and reporting.
