Position Summary The Assistant General Manager - Golf Course Maintenance is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, presentation, and overall agronomic health of the golf course and associated landscapes. The role requires extensive knowledge of horticulture, turfgrass management, irrigation systems, and golf course maintenance operations to ensure world-class playing conditions while maintaining environmental sustainability and cost efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Golf Course Landscape Maintenance

- Assist in planning, directing, and supervising all golf course maintenance activities, including greens, tees, fairways, roughs, bunkers, lakes, and landscaped areas.
- Ensure optimal turf quality and playing conditions in accordance with established standards.
- Develop and implement agronomic programs for turf health, fertilization, pest management, aeration, and renovation.
- Monitor and maintain horticultural landscapes, gardens, trees, shrubs, and ornamental plantings across the property.

Irrigation Management

- Manage and optimize the golf course irrigation system for effective water utilization and turf health.
- Conduct regular inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance of pumps, controllers, valves, sprinklers, and related irrigation infrastructure.
- Develop irrigation schedules based on weather conditions, soil moisture levels, and turf requirements.
- Implement water conservation initiatives and ensure compliance with local water regulations.

Operational Leadership

- Assist the Head of Golf Course Maintenance / Golf Course Superintendent in day-to-day operations.
- Supervise and train maintenance staff,



ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
- Prepare work schedules, allocate resources, and monitor productivity.
- Manage contractors and vendors involved in course maintenance projects.

Budget Asset Management

- Assist in preparing and managing annual operating and capital budgets.
- Monitor expenditures related to labor, equipment, chemicals, fertilizers, and irrigation supplies.
- Ensure proper maintenance and utilization of maintenance equipment and machinery.
- Recommend capital improvements and replacement plans for equipment and infrastructure.

Environmental Safety Compliance

- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, pesticide usage guidelines, and occupational safety standards.
- Promote sustainable turf management practices and integrated pest management (IPM) programs.
- Maintain accurate records of irrigation, fertilization, chemical applications, and maintenance activities.

Qualifications Experience

- Bachelors Degree in Horticulture, Agriculture, Turfgrass Management, Landscape Management, or a related field.
- 8-12 years of progressive experience in golf course maintenance, landscaping, or turf management.
- Strong knowledge of turfgrass science, horticultural practices, and golf course conditioning.
- Deep understanding of computerized irrigation systems, pump stations, water management, and drainage systems.
- Experience in managing large teams and maintenance operations.
- Knowledge of agronomic software and irrigation control systems is preferred.
