Enerzinx is looking for skilled and motivated Application Engineers Power System Studies to join its dynamic engineering team.
The selected candidates will be responsible for conducting steady-state, transient stability, dynamic stability, RMS, and EMT studies for renewable energy and utility-scale power systems, including solar, wind, energy storage, transmission, and distribution systems.
The role involves power system model development and validation, grid code compliance studies, data analysis, technical report preparation, model benchmarking, and simulation automation. The candidate will work closely with internal engineering teams, clients, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality technical studies.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform steady-state, transient stability, and dynamic stability studies for solar, wind, battery storage, and utility power systems.
- Develop, implement, and validate inverter-based resource (IBR) models and power plant controller models.
- Work with simulation platforms including PSS®E, PSCAD, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, and EMTP-RV.
- Conduct RMS and EMT simulations for renewable energy and conventional power systems.
- Perform power quality, grid performance, and system impact studies.
- Analyze bulk transmission and distributed generation system data.
- Carry out Grid Performance Standards (GPS) / Grid Code compliance studies.
- Prepare detailed engineering reports covering methodologies, assumptions, simulation results, findings, and recommendations.
- Support the development and automation of PSCAD simulations to improve study efficiency, repeatability, and accuracy.
- Perform model benchmarking and validation between PSS®E and PSCAD and other simulation platforms.
- Develop and validate renewable energy plant models, inverter models,
and plant controller models.
- Analyze simulation results and identify system performance issues, limitations, and potential mitigation measures.
- Collaborate with internal engineering teams, clients, utilities, and other stakeholders to ensure successful project execution.
- Support technical discussions, project reviews, and client meetings as required.
- Maintain awareness of evolving grid codes, power system standards, simulation methodologies, and industry best practices.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering methodologies, templates, tools, and automation workflows.
Required Skill Set
- Strong hands-on experience with PSS®E, PSCAD, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, and EMTP-RV.
- Strong understanding of power system dynamics and stability.
- Experience in RMS and EMT studies.
- Knowledge of renewable energy integration and inverter-based resources.
- Understanding of grid code / grid performance requirements.
- Experience in power system data analysis and interpretation of simulation results.
- Knowledge of renewable energy plant control systems and power plant controllers.
- Experience with model development, benchmarking, and validation.
- Knowledge of transmission and distribution system studies.
- Programming/scripting experience using Python or MATLAB will be an added advantage.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent technical documentation and report-writing skills.
- Ability to work independently and effectively collaborate within a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with national and international grid codes and standards, including NERC, IEC, and CIGR.
- Experience with renewable energy power plants, including solar PV, wind, and BESS.
- Robust understanding of inverter-based generation and grid integration.
- Experience in model benchmarking across PSS®E, PSCAD, PowerFactory, and other simulation platforms.
- Experience with PSLF, TSAT, and other power system simulation tools.
- Previous experience in engineering consulting, utilities, renewable energy, transmission, or power system studies.
- Knowledge of simulation automation and batch processing.
- Experience working on utility-scale renewable energy interconnection studies.
Desired Candidate Profile The ideal candidate should have strong technical expertise in power system studies and simulation, with hands-on experience in RMS and EMT analysis. The candidate should be analytical, detail-oriented, and capable of independently executing engineering studies while working effectively with project teams and clients. Candidates with experience in renewable energy integration, inverter-based resources, grid code compliance, model validation, and simulation automation will be preferred.
Qualification
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related field.
- 3-10+ years of relevant experience in power system studies, analysis, simulation, or consulting.
- Hands-on experience with power system analysis and simulation tools such as PSS®E, PSCAD, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, and EMTP-RV.
