Role: 5G-Advanced / 6G Core R&D; Engineer
We are looking for passionate and technically strong engineers/researchers to work on 5G-Advanced and 6G Core Network research and development.
The role involves researching, designing, developing, prototyping, and evaluating next-generation core network architectures and protocols, with a strong focus on 3GPP standards, emerging technologies, and industry requirements.
Key Responsibilities
· Research and develop 5G-Advanced and 6G Core Network architectures, protocols, and technologies.
· Analyze and contribute to 3GPP specifications and standardization activities.
· Design and develop core network components, prototypes, and proof-of-concepts.
· Work on 5G NSA/SA, EPC, 5G Core and emerging 6G Core technologies.
· Develop and evaluate protocols and interfaces including NAS, Service-Based Interfaces (SBI), HTTP/2, and related core network procedures.
· Perform simulation, emulation, prototyping, testing, benchmarking, and performance evaluation of network solutions.
· Translate research concepts into working prototypes and deployable technology solutions.
· Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across wireless, networking, systems, AI, and software domains.
· Document research outcomes through technical reports, specifications, publications, and intellectual property.
· Contribute to innovation initiatives and technology transfer to industry partners.
· Represent and contribute to CEWiT's technical work in international 3GPP standardization meetings and industry forums.
Required Skills & Qualifications
· Strong analytical, problem-solving, and research skills, with the ability to address complex telecom and networking challenges.
· Strong fundamentals in computer systems and networking, including Operating Systems, Data Structures & Algorithms, Computer Networks, TCP/IP and UDP.
· Familiarity with modern networking technologies and protocols such as SRv6 and QUIC.
· Understanding of NAS, SBI, HTTP/2 and service-based 5G Core architecture.
· Strong programming skills in one or more of C/C++, Go, Java, or Python.
· Experience with network simulators, emulators, test frameworks, or open-source telecom platforms is desirable.
· Ability to design, implement, test, benchmark, and optimize software/network solutions.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts clearly.
· Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary and collaborative R&D; teams.
Education & Eligibility
· M.Tech / M.E. / MS / Ph.D. in Electronics & Communication Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a closely related discipline.
· This position is intended for Postgraduate and Ph.D. candidates with solid technical/R&D; backgrounds.
· Freshers with only a Bachelor's/UG qualification are not eligible for this position.
· Candidates currently pursuing or having completed a Master's or Ph.D. with relevant expertise may be considered.
· Preference will be given to candidates with relevant R&D;, telecom, networking, software development, or 3GPP standardization experience less than 5 years.
Preferred / Good-to-Have
· Exposure to 3GPP specifications and standardization processes, particularly SA2.
· Experience with 5G Core implementations, cloud-native networking, NFV, SDN, Kubernetes, or containerized network functions.
· Experience with open-source 5G platforms such as Open5GS, free5GC, OAI, or similar platforms.
· Knowledge of 5G-Advanced and emerging 6G concepts.
· Experience in research publications, patents, technical contributions, or standards contributions.
· Prior experience in telecom R&D;, core network development, or network product development.
