About the role
This position designs and owns the agent layer of a multi-product consumer platform: multi-agent systems in Python, exposed as REST and streaming APIs and consumed by the wider platform. The architecture is deliberately provider- and framework-agnostic; the model and orchestration library behind a feature are treated as configuration decisions rather than architectural ones, and both are expected to change as the market moves. The role therefore centres less on any one vendor’s SDK and more on the durable engineering underneath: agent topologies, tool and interop protocols, context and caching strategy, model routing, token economics, and the observability to know what any of it is costing.
This is a senior, hands-on seat demanding real coding strength. Agent frameworks make the first demo easy and the production system hard, and most of the work sits in the gap between those two. Some of what is built here reaches people at sensitive moments,



where a confidently wrong answer is a harm rather than a bug report; that responsibility is taken seriously and is expected to be shared.
The role also carries a cross-cutting mandate. Delivery at Synterra is organised into small, senior pods supported by a central technical group that owns standards, reusable assets, and hard cross-project problems. The agent layer built in this seat, together with its evaluation, cost, and safety practices, is expected to become reusable infrastructure that other pods and products build on, not a one-off implementation.
