Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Design Engineer (Hull Structures) to join our team. The ideal candidate should possess a robust background in ship structural design, finite element analysis, and be capable of working collaboratively across functions to deliver innovative and robust engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and execute structural design and analysis of ship hull structures.
Perform detailed finite element analysis (FEA) for structural integrity, fatigue, and strength assessment.
Ensure compliance with classification society rules, statutory requirements, and company standards.
Review and validate design calculations, drawings, and technical documents.
Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including hydrodynamics, outfitting, piping, and production departments.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers in the team.
Contribute to continuous improvement of design methodologies, processes, and best practices.
Required Skills & Competencies
Strong technical expertise in ship structural design and analysis.
Advanced proficiency in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools and structural assessment methods.
Sound knowledge of classification society rules, ship design standards, and regulatory requirements.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and deliver high-quality results within deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
B.Tech / M.Tech in Naval Architecture or Mechanical Engineering.
5–7 years of relevant experience in ship structural design and FEA.
Exposure to software such as ANSYS, NASTRAN, HyperMesh, or similar structural analysis tools.
Prior experience in shipyard or marine/offshore engineering projects will be an added advantage.
