About the role:
You will be responsible for remediating and modernizing enterprise Java applications, ensuring they operate reliably end-to-end—from low-level design through secure, high-quality code—on the latest Java platform.
You will join a fast-paced, high-performing engineering team supporting large-scale technology remediation and digital transformation initiatives. Using your engineering expertise, you will analyze, refactor, and upgrade existing Java applications, addressing technical debt, security vulnerabilities, and platform compatibility issues.

Key Responsibilities:
Perform Java remediation activities including code refactoring, dependency upgrades, and replacement of deprecated or removed APIs introduced since Java 8.
Build and enhance data and application services exposed via REST APIs and events, ensuring performance, scalability, and security post-migration.
Provide accurate technical estimates and contribute to technical planning.
Apply secure coding and DevSecOps practices,



remediating vulnerabilities identified by tools such as Snyk and Checkmarx as part of the CI/CD pipeline.
Contribute to application pipelines and engineering frameworks to improve reliability, observability, and maintainability of remediated systems.
Work closely with cross-functional and geographically distributed teams, including Canadian IT teams, using agile delivery methodologies to deliver Java-based remediation outcomes with minimal business disruption.
Participate in design discussions, code reviews, and migration planning to ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture and governance standards.
Operate in a Shift-Left testing environment and prioritize writing efficient, tested and explicit code
Participate in improving the supportability and transparency of the applications and services we build by creating clear and comprehensive documentation, monitoring/alert systems and centralized logging
