About the Role

Toshiba is looking for an experienced Technical Architect – Storage / HDD Firmware to lead firmware architecture, development, optimization, and technical initiatives for enterprise-class storage products.

Key Responsibilities

* Design, develop, and maintain firmware for enterprise HDDs involving SAS/SATA and ZAC/ZBC
* Define firmware architecture, software frameworks, and module interfaces
* Lead the complete firmware development lifecycle from requirements to release Work on advanced storage features including FTL, Garbage Collection, Error Recovery, and Power-Fail Management
* Analyze and optimize firmware performance, latency, throughput, and resource utilization
* Lead root-cause analysis of field issues and customer escalations
* Develop diagnostic, telemetry, debugging, and simulation capabilities




* Provide technical leadership and mentorship to firmware engineers
* Participate in architecture reviews and technical decision-making
* Collaborate with customers and field teams to understand requirements and resolve complex technical issues

Required Skills

* Strong hands-on experience in C/C++
* Strong expertise in Storage Firmware Architecture
* Experience with Embedded Systems, RTOS, and Bare-Metal Development
* Strong understanding of HDD, SSD, NVMe, SAS, and SATA
* Knowledge of memory management, concurrency, interrupts, and performance optimization
* Hands-on experience with JTAG, Logic Analyzers, and Protocol Analyzers
* Good understanding of Hardware, SoC, and Processor Architecture
* Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Perl, Shell, or Lua
* Strong knowledge of Data Structures and Object-Oriented Design
* Robust analytical, problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills
