About the Role

The Primary Design Engineer is responsible for the design and development of High Voltage (HV) Substation Primary Engineering deliverables across transmission and distribution projects. The role involves preparation, review, and coordination of primary design documentation, ensuring compliance with client specifications, industry standards, project requirements, and quality procedures. The position requires close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders to deliver safe, efficient, and technically robust engineering solutions.

Roles & Responsibilities

Primary Engineering Design




- Prepare and develop Single Line Diagrams (SLDs) for HV substations.
- Design and review substation configurations and schemes including, Feeder Bays, Transformer Bays, Busbar Arrangements, Mesh Corner Schemes, Shunt Reactor Bays
- Prepare Overall Equipment Layouts and Elevations for AIS substations.
- Develop Maintenance Access Layouts ensuring secure operation and maintainability.
- Prepare Cable Trench Layouts in coordination with civil and secondary design teams.
- Perform Lightning Protection System calculations and prepare associated layouts.
- Carry out Earthing System calculations and develop Earthing Layout drawings.
- Prepare Typical Equipment Earthing details and installation drawings.
- Perform Short Circuit Force Calculations for rigid and flexible busbars.
- Develop Mechanical Interlocking philosophies and associated design documentation.
