The Tax Digital Transformation & Innovation practice at BDO USA delivers human-centered digital experiences for tax professionals and clients. The Senior Product Design Engineer bridges product design and front-end engineering, transforming complex, data-heavy tax workflows into intuitive, scalable, and accessible experiences.

This role is approximately 70% engineering and 30% design. The ideal candidate can move seamlessly from concept and prototype to production-quality implementation, partnering closely with Product, Engineering, and Design teams across global time zones. You will contribute to our design system, build high-performance user interfaces, and help accelerate product delivery through modern AI-assisted workflows.

Job Duties

- Translate product concepts and Figma designs into production-ready user experiences.
- Build responsive, accessible, and performant front-end applications.
- Contribute to the evolution of shared design systems and reusable component libraries.
- Collaborate asynchronously with globally distributed teams in a follow-the-sun model.
- Prototype concepts rapidly to validate ideas and improve decision-making.
- Leverage AI-assisted tools and workflows to accelerate design, development, testing, and documentation.




- Use qualitative and quantitative insights to improve user experiences.
- Champion accessibility, usability, and consistency across products.
- Mentor peers and contribute to design and engineering best practices.
- Other duties as required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Acts as a career advisor and mentor as assigned.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesEducation:

- Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or related discipline; or equivalent experience.
- Or a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent with 6+ years of experience.

Experience:

- 5+ years of experience in product design engineering, front-end development, UX engineering, or a related field, required.
- Experience translating design concepts into production-quality interfaces, required.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional product teams, required.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating product thinking, interaction design, and front-end implementation, preferred.
- React, Angular, TypeScript, Next.js, TailwindCSS, and Figma, preferred.
- Design systems and component-based architecture, preferred.
- Accessibility standards and responsive design, preferred.
- REST APIs and up-to-date web application architecture, preferred.
- Familiarity with AI tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude, and v0, preferred.

Software:

- Fluency in modern IDEs (e.g. Visual Studio, Cursor, etc.), required
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365
