Job Purpose
The EHS Engineer is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and continually improving Health, Safety, and Setting (HSE) management systems across gas handling and processing facilities. The role focuses on ensuring safe operations, regulatory compliance, risk management, emergency preparedness, and the promotion of a strong safety culture. The incumbent will work closely with operations, maintenance, contractors, and management teams to identify hazards, prevent incidents, and ensure adherence to applicable safety standards and procedures.
Key Responsibilities 1. Safety Management & Risk Control
Conduct routine safety inspections, audits, and compliance assessments of gas facilities, including pipelines, compressors, gas processing plants, storage tanks, and related infrastructure.
Identify, assess, and control hazards associated with gas leaks, high-pressure systems, flammable gases, hazardous materials, confined spaces, and other operational risks.
Support and monitor the implementation of Permit to Work (PTW) systems for high-risk activities.
Facilitate Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA), and toolbox talks before commencement of work.
Monitor critical activities such as hot work, confined space entry, lifting operations, excavation work, and maintenance shutdown activities.
Ensure safety procedures, work instructions, and safe operating practices are effectively implemented across all work areas.
Verify the availability and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and other safety controls.
2. Incident Investigation & Corrective Actions
Lead and participate in the investigation of incidents, accidents, unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, and near-miss events.
Utilize structured root cause analysis techniques such as 5-Why Analysis, Fishbone Diagrams, and Cause Mapping to identify contributing factors.
Develop, recommend, and track Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs) to prevent recurrence.
