Role Overview

Lead the QC laboratory for the Lube Oil Blending & Grease Plant - owning incoming-material testing, in-process and finished-product QC, batch release and certification so that every dispatched batch fully meets ASTM and customer specifications.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage all QC laboratory operations and lead the laboratory team across shifts.
- Test incoming base oils, additives and packaging against approved specifications and release or reject accordingly.
- Carry out in-process and finished-product testing for both lube oils and greases.
- Perform and supervise standard ASTM tests - kinematic viscosity (D445) and viscosity index, flash point (D92 / D93), pour point (D97), density / specific gravity (D1298 / D4052), water content by Karl Fischer (D6304 / D1744), NLGI cone penetration (D217) and dropping point (D566 / D2265).
- Issue Certificates of Analysis (COA) and authorise batch release.
- Calibrate, verify and maintain all laboratory instruments and maintain calibration and AMC records.
- Maintain full documentation, traceability,



retained samples and test records.
- Investigate off-spec batches with Production and recommend corrective action.
- Support new product development, reformulation trials and competitor benchmarking.
- Manage laboratory chemicals, reagents and consumables and enforce laboratory safety, MSDS and chemical-handling discipline.

Technical Knowledge / Skills Required
- Robust hands-on command of ASTM test methods for lube oils and greases.
- Instrument handling, calibration and basic troubleshooting - viscometer bath, flash point apparatus, Karl Fischer titrator, penetrometer, dropping point apparatus and density meter.
- Batch release / certification and QC documentation systems.

Desirable / Added Advantage

Exposure to ISO 9001 laboratory practice, NLGI grade-wise grease testing, and interpreting OEM and customer specifications.
