Urgent hiring for Character Design Artist

About the Role

Artemisia College of Art and Design is seeking a highly accomplished Character Design Artist to join its faculty team. We are looking for an artist with exceptional traditional drawing skills, a deep understanding of human anatomy, figure construction, and character development, and the ability to mentor students in creating compelling and industry-ready character designs.

This position is best suited for artists who believe that great character design begins with strong drawing skills and a thorough understanding of form, structure, and anatomy.

Key Responsibilities
- Teach Character Design and Drawing Fundamentals for Animation, Comics, Gaming, and Visual Development
- Train students in:
- Drawing Fundamentals & Sketching Techniques
- Human Anatomy & Muscles movement & Figure Drawing
- Gesture Drawing & Life Drawing
- Character Construction & Proportions
- Character Design & Character Turnaround Development
- Facial Expressions & Acting for Animation
- Costume & Prop Design




- Animal Anatomy & Creature & Anthropomorphic Design
- Shape Language & Character Appeal
- Stylization Techniques
- Perspective & Structural Drawing
- Visual Development for Characters
- Conduct intensive drawing sessions, life drawing workshops, and anatomy studies
- Guide students in creating professional character design portfolios
- Knowledge of 3D Character Pipeline is a plus.
- Mentor students in developing original characters and intellectual properties (IPs)
- Conduct portfolio reviews, critiques, and industry-oriented projects
- Participate in curriculum development, workshops, exhibitions, and academic activities

Required Skills:
- Exceptional freehand drawing and sketching skills
- Strong command over Human Anatomy, Figure Drawing, Gesture Drawing, and Character Construction
- Advanced understanding of Character Design principles, silhouettes, shape language, appeal, and visual storytelling through design
