The Credit Manager is responsible for evaluating customer creditworthiness, managing credit risk, establishing credit limits, ensuring timely collections, and minimizing bad debt exposure. The role supports business growth while maintaining healthy cash flow and compliance with company credit policies.
Key Responsibilities
Credit Evaluation & Risk Management
- Assess credit applications and determine appropriate credit limits.
- Analyze financial statements, credit reports, and payment histories.
- Monitor customer credit exposure and identify potential risks.
- Review and approve credit terms in accordance with company policies.
Accounts Receivable & Collections
- Oversee accounts receivable and collection activities.
- Ensure timely collection of outstanding payments.
- Monitor aged debtor accounts and initiate recovery actions.
- Work closely with customers to resolve payment disputes.
Policy & Compliance
- Develop and implement credit control procedures and policies.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate credit records and documentation.
Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare reports on receivables, collections, bad debts, and credit risk exposure.
- Track key credit metrics and recommend process improvements.
- Provide management with insights on customer payment behavior and portfolio risks.
Stakeholder Management
- Partner with Sales, Finance, and Operations teams to balance revenue growth and risk.
- Support business decisions related to customer credit terms and payment structures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, Economics, or related field.
- Qualified certifications in Credit Management, Finance, or Accounting are preferred.
