Head of Performing Arts & Visual Arts
Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced and accomplished arts leader to lead both the Performing Arts and Visual Arts departments. The ideal candidate should bring strong expertise across both disciplines, along with the ability to lead teams, strengthen curriculum, mentor educators and create meaningful, creative learning experiences for students.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the Performing Arts and Visual Arts curriculum and programmes across the school.
- Set high standards for teaching, learning, creativity and artistic excellence.
- Mentor, develop and inspire educators through observation, feedback and professional learning.
- Design engaging, experiential, inquiry-based and interdisciplinary learning experiences.
- Curate and lead performances, exhibitions, productions, showcases and other arts initiatives.
- Identify and nurture students' artistic potential and provide opportunities for advanced learning and exposure.
- Build a collaborative, creative and growth-oriented department culture.
- Manage departmental planning, resources, budgets and annual goals.
- Collaborate with school leaders and other departments on school-wide and interdisciplinary initiatives.
- Build partnerships with artists, cultural organisations and external institutions to enhance student and educator learning.
- Contribute to the school's broader strategic and creative vision as part of the leadership team.
Ideal Candidate
- Significant expertise in both Performing Arts and Visual Arts strong capability in only one discipline will not be sufficient.
- Strong background in arts education, curriculum design and pedagogy.
- Proven experience in leading and mentoring educators/teams.
- Creative, reflective and student-centred approach to learning.
- Excellent communication, collaboration and organisational skills.
- Ability to balance artistic excellence with educational purpose.
