The Engineer – Pickling, Stainless Steel will be responsible for managing and optimizing pickling operations for stainless steel products, ensuring effective removal of scale, oxides, and surface contaminants while maintaining required surface quality and product specifications. The role involves monitoring pickling parameters, chemical concentration, temperature, line speed, and process efficiency

Principal Accountabilities*
- Manage day-to-day stainless steel pickling operations to achieve required surface quality and production targets.
- Monitor and control pickling parameters such as acid concentration, temperature, immersion time, line speed, and bath condition.
- Ensure effective removal of scale, oxide, heat tint, and surface contaminants from stainless steel products.
- Maintain and optimize pickling bath chemistry, including HNO3, HF, and other process chemicals as applicable.




- Conduct regular checks of acid concentration, iron content, free acid, and bath contamination and coordinate chemical replenishment.
- Identify and troubleshoot pickling defects such as under-pickling, over-pickling, stains, discoloration, pitting, and uneven surface finish.
- Coordinate with the Quality team to ensure products meet customer specifications and applicable standards.
- Monitor chemical consumption and process losses and implement measures to reduce operating costs.
- Coordinate with Maintenance for reliable operation of pickling tanks, pumps, heaters, exhaust systems, filtration systems, and related equipment.
- Ensure proper rinsing, neutralization, drying, and surface treatment after pickling as per process requirements.
