Role & responsibilities
- To support the Direct Tax function in handling tax compliance, litigation, and advisory matters.
- Assist in the preparation and filing of income tax returns, computation of advance tax liabilities, and support tax planning initiatives.
- Provide assistance during tax audits and coordinate with tax auditors by furnishing the required information and documentation.
- Handle various tax compliance activities such as filing of SFT returns, preparation of Form 15CB / CA certifications, and preparation of withholding tax notes.
- Assist in tax litigation matters, including preparation of submissions, filing of appeals, preparation of paper books, and handling proceedings before tax authorities such as the Assessing Officer, CIT(A), ITAT, and higher judicial forums. The role will also involve follow-ups relating to reassessment, rectification matters, and notices issued under section 133(6).
- Maintain litigation trackers, monitor tax refund follow-ups, respond to internal tax queries from various departments, and coordinate with external counsels.
The role may also require visiting income-tax offices for departmental follow-ups and other tax-related matters
Preferred candidate profile
- Chartered Accountant with 1-4 years of post-qualification experience.
- Prior articleship and/or work experience in Direct Tax is mandatory.
- Basic knowledge of direct tax laws.
- Positive analytical, drafting, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tax compliance and litigation assignments within defined timelines.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Working knowledge of SAP will be an added advantage
