We are seeking a highly skilled
Automation Engineer
to join the State Street Middleware Application Infrastructure Team. Our team manages and supports a wide range of Web and Application server technologies including WebSphere, JBoss, IIS, and other middleware platforms (MFT, Kafka, MQ, Autosys, etc) across the Bank.

This role focuses on building
Python and UNIX shell–based automation
, enabling
self‑service capabilities
, and improving
platform and infrastructure operations
through automation‑first solutions.

The ideal candidate has a strong operational mindset, hands‑on scripting expertise, and a passion for reducing manual effort, improving reliability, and driving continuous improvement. Exposure to
AI‑assisted development or intelligent automation
is a strong plus.

What You Will Be Responsible For
As an Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for:
- Designing, developing, and supporting automation solutions for Middleware and Web Application platforms
- Building and maintaining Python and UNIX shell scripts for BAU automation,



health checks, monitoring, validation, and remediation
- Enabling self‑service automation for application and operations teams using APIs and workflow‑based solutions
- Automating platform and infrastructure operations, including provisioning, configuration, patching, upgrades, and clean‑up activities
- Supporting incident, problem, and change management through automation‑first approaches
- Working closely with Middleware, SRE, and Infrastructure teams to standardize and automate operational processes
- Maintaining automation code in version control and following secure, scalable development practices
- Identifying opportunities to improve platform resilience, performance, and operational efficiency through automation
- Skilled in Jira, ServiceNow, and Confluence for managing defects and user stories
