Role & responsibilities
QA Engineer Website & Web Application Testing
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and execute test cases, scenarios and test data for website features, forms and end-to-end user journeys.
- Validate implemented UI against design specifications (Figma / Adobe XD / Zeplin) spacing, typography, component states, transitions, error handling and edge-case content.
- Test component libraries and design system implementations for consistency across pages and breakpoints.
- Perform cross-browser testing (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge) and responsive testing across mobile, tablet and desktop on real devices and cloud device labs.
- Test critical customer journeys end to end: sign-up, login, search, cart, checkout, payments and account management.
- Verify customer-visible third-party integrations payment gateways, chat widgets, CRM forms and marketing tags and confirm analytics events fire correctly.
- Check SEO-affecting elements: meta tags, canonical URLs, redirects and broken links.
- Test against WCAG 2.1/2.2 AA keyboard navigation, focus order,
screen reader behaviour, colour contrast and form labelling.
- Maintain and execute regression suites; run smoke checks and post-deployment verification on production releases.
- Log clear, reproducible defects with severity, workplace, steps and evidence, and drive them to closure.
- Review designs and acceptance criteria early with designers, developers and product managers to flag testability gaps before development starts.
Preferred candidate profile
- Experience testing customer-facing products public websites, e-commerce storefronts or self-service portals where defects reach real users.
- Cross-browser/device testing on BrowserStack, LambdaTest or Sauce Labs.
- Accessibility tooling (axe DevTools, WAVE, Lighthouse, NVDA/VoiceOver) and Core Web Vitals awareness.
- API validation basics using Postman; CMS-driven sites (WordPress, Contentful, AEM, Sitecore); localisation testing; ISTQB certification.
