Role Description The Reporter role at Girl Up in Patiala is a full-time, on-site position focused on covering stories related to gender justice, youth leadership, and community impact. The Reporter will research and develop news stories, conduct interviews with stakeholders and youth leaders, and produce accurate, engaging written content for digital and print platforms. Daily tasks include attending events, identifying story leads within Girl Up Clubs and programs, gathering multimedia elements such as photos and short videos, and collaborating with communications staff to align coverage with organizational priorities. The Reporter will also fact-check information, adhere to editorial guidelines, and ensure that all reporting reflects Girl Up’s values of equity, inclusion, and youth-centered leadership.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess strong Reporting and News Writing skills to develop transparent, timely, and accurate stories.




Candidates should possess effective Communication and Writing skills to convey complex issues in accessible and engaging language.
Candidates should possess basic Multimedia skills, including familiarity with photos, video clips, or social media formats that enhance storytelling.
Relevant qualifications such as a degree or coursework in Journalism, Communications, Media Studies, or a related field are beneficial.
Experience reporting on social issues, human rights, or gender justice, and a demonstrated commitment to inclusive, youth-centered storytelling is preferred.
Ability to work on-site in Patiala, manage multiple assignments, meet deadlines, and collaborate with a diverse team and community members.
