Role Purpose
We are hiring a Backend Engineer (SDE3) to join our UPI team at Setu. This role is for engineers who want to build reliable, high-scale payment systems and take end-to-end ownership of meaningful backend problems. The team works on systems that demand scale, resilience, performance, and cost efficiency.
What will you do at Setu?
- Design, build, and maintain backend services that power high-scale, low-latency payment systems.
- Take end-to-end ownership of problem statements, from architecture and implementation to rollout and monitoring.
- Continuously optimize performance and infrastructure costs, identifying opportunities to make our systems faster and leaner.
- Collaborate with product, frontend, and infra teams to deliver reliable and scalable solutions.
- Strengthen system observability,
fault tolerance, and scalability through metrics, tracing, and alerting.
- Follow and champion engineering best practices including testing, documentation, code reviews, and CI/CD automation.

What We Are Looking For
- Robust hands-on experience with Golang and related backend technologies.
- Solid understanding of relational databases, especially PostgreSQL, distributed systems, concurrency, and system design.
- Experience in scaling backend systems or optimizing infrastructure costs at high scale.
- Familiarity with AWS and observability tooling such as Grafana, Prometheus, and ClickHouse.
