Position: Senior HR Executive

Experience Required: 5-6 years of HR experience
Qualifications: Master’s degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field
About the Role:
We are looking for an independent and self-motivated qualified to lead the HR
function at Ashray. This role goes beyond day-to-day HR operations, it requires
someone who can design and drive HR strategy, covering policy, compliance, and
organisational culture. This person will guide the HR team and take ownership of
how key HR responsibilities are carried out. With a team of 150 people across 15
states of India, this role will oversee performance management and grievance
handling across the organisation, and represent HR as a strategic function to
leadership.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the entire recruitment process, including deciding where and how
to advertise open roles, reviewing candidates, and maintaining an
organised and easily accessible record system
- Design a structured onboarding process to help new team members
understand the organisation and complete their paperwork smoothly
- Establish a dependable system for tracking attendance and leave records
for salary processing
- Develop and roll out strategies to improve employee engagement and
retention
- Set up and oversee a performance management system, including goal-
setting, periodic reviews, and feedback processes for teams across states.
- Ensure employee records are well maintained and that HR practices comply
with labour laws across all states of operation
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements (PF, ESI, gratuity, etc.) and
support donor/CSR-related HR reporting as needed
- Plan HR staffing and budgets in line with project and grant timelines, given
that many roles are tied to specific funded projects
- Design HR policies that address the needs of both permanent and project-
based staff
- Support training and capacity-building for field teams across states, many
of whom have limited access to in-person HR support
- Advise leadership on organisational structure, workforce planning, and
other people-related decisions
- Establish a fair and consistent process for handling employee grievances
across the organisation
- Help build and sustain an organisational culture aligned with Ashray's
mission, across diverse teams and locations
Skills Needed:
- Strong leadership qualities, with the ability to handle grievances and offer
solutions
- Ability to stay neutral and view situations objectively, from a third-party
perspective
- Working knowledge of labour laws and statutory compliance across Indian
states
- Experience managing HR for a distributed, multi-location team
- Familiarity with non-profit or CSR-sector HR practices, including donor
reporting requirements
- Strong understanding of HRMS or similar employee database systems
- Ability to think strategically, designing and improving processes, not just executing them
Pay: From ₹45,000.00 per month
