JOB DESCRIPTION – STORE EXECUTIVE – TOOL STORE
Department: Stores / Tool Room
Designation: Store Executive – Tool Store
Industry: Fasteners Manufacturing
Location: Plant / Manufacturing Unit
Reporting To: Stores Manager / Plant Head
1. Job Purpose
To manage the receipt, storage, issue, inventory control, and timely availability of tools, dies, punches, gauges, cutting tools, and other tool-room materials required for fastener manufacturing operations.
2. Key ResponsibilitiesA. Tool & Material Management
- Receive and verify tools, dies, punches, gauges, inserts, cutting tools, and other tool-room materials.
- Check quantity, specification, part number, condition, and required documents against purchase orders/material receipts.
- Properly store and identify tools using suitable racks, bins, labels, and location codes.
- Maintain proper identification and traceability of all tools.
B. Tool Issue & Return
- Issue tools to Production, Tool Room, Maintenance, Quality, and other authorized departments against approved requisitions.
- Record tool issue, return, replacement, and consumption details accurately.
- Monitor tools returned after use and ensure proper inspection before re-storage.
- Maintain records of damaged, worn-out, rejected, and obsolete tools.
C. Inventory Control
- Maintain minimum and maximum stock levels for critical tools and consumables.
- Monitor stock availability and initiate purchase/replenishment requirements before stock-out.
- Conduct daily/weekly/monthly physical stock verification as required.
- Reconcile physical stock with ERP/system records and investigate discrepancies.
- Prepare inventory and consumption reports for management review.

Fasteners Manufacturing Support
- Coordinate with Cold Forging, Thread Rolling, Machining, Heat Treatment, Surface Treatment, Quality, and Maintenance departments for tool requirements.
- Ensure critical production tools such as dies, punches, cutters, gauges, and inserts are available as per production requirements.
- Support production planning by ensuring timely availability of required tooling.
E. Tool Maintenance & Control
- Coordinate with the Tool Room for sharpening, repair, reconditioning, and maintenance of tools.
- Maintain tool life and usage records wherever applicable.
- Track tool consumption and identify abnormal usage or repeated tool failures.
- Ensure tools are stored safely to prevent damage, rust, contamination, or mix-up.
F. Documentation & System Updates
- Maintain Tool Store registers, stock records, issue/return records, and inspection records.
- Update ERP / inventory software regularly and accurately.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly tool stock and consumption reports.
- Maintain proper documentation for audits and traceability.
G. Safety & 5S
- Follow safety procedures while handling heavy, sharp, or precision tools.
- Maintain Tool Store cleanliness and proper 5S practices.
- Ensure tools are stored safely and access is controlled.
- Participate in internal audits, 5S audits,
and corrective actions related to the Tool Store.
3. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Tool stock accuracy.
- Zero/Minimum production stoppage due to tool non-availability.
- Timely issue of tools.
- Reduction in tool loss and abnormal consumption.
- Tool inventory carrying cost.
- Timely stock reconciliation.
- Proper ERP/system updating.
- 5S and safety compliance.
- Reduction in obsolete/damaged tool inventory.
4. Qualification
- ITI / Diploma in Mechanical / Production / Tool & Die / Stores or equivalent.
- Additional certification in inventory management or ERP will be an advantage.
5. Experience
- 2–5 years of experience in Tool Store / Stores / Tool Room in a manufacturing industry.
- Experience in the fasteners, automotive components, forging, machining, or engineering industry will be preferred.
6. Required Skills
- Knowledge of tools, dies, punches, gauges, inserts, and machining consumables.
- Basic knowledge of fastener manufacturing processes.
- Inventory and stock management skills.
- ERP / Excel knowledge.
- Good documentation and record-keeping skills.
- Positive communication and coordination skills.
- Knowledge of 5S, FIFO, and basic inventory control practices.
7. Authority
- Issue tools only against authorized requisitions.
- Hold unidentified, damaged, or incorrect materials for verification.
- Report stock discrepancies, abnormal consumption, and critical shortages to the reporting manager.
- Recommend replenishment of critical tools based on stock levels and production requirements.
Pay: ₹18,000.00 - ₹20,000.00 per month
