Key Responsibilities

1. Stock Intake & Classification

– Receive, verify and log all incoming stock against vendor invoices and memos — weight, purity, stone details, tagging.

– Categorise and sub-categorise every piece to the defined taxonomy: category, sub-category, design family, weight band, price band.

– Reconcile discrepancies between physical stock, vendor memo and ERP entry within 48 hours.

– Flag classification exceptions rather than guessing. Consistency of tagging is the foundation of everything else in this role.

2. Replenishment & Buffer Management

– Maintain stock buffer levels across all defined categories, using a green / yellow / red status system.

– Recommend buffer adjustments based on actual consumption — increases where shortages recur, reductions where stock sits idle.

– Raise replenishment orders based on buffer status and consumption data, not on seasonal hunches or vendor pressure.

– Escalate any proposed departure from the system to the Director, in writing, with reasoning.

3. Vendor & Order Management

– Raise and track purchase and job orders with karigars and vendors.

– Track and enforce lead times by vendor and by category. Reliable replenishment matters more than cheap replenishment.

– Follow up daily on pending orders and maintain a live open-order position.

– Work vendors towards smaller, more frequent orders rather than large infrequent buys.

4. Protecting Fast-Moving Stock

– Maintain the quick-mover list — the top 20% of designs by movement — and treat these as never-out-of-stock.

– Maintain a missed-sale log:

every customer request that could not be met from stock is recorded and analysed.

– Report weekly to the Director on shortage risks, missed sales and open orders.

5. Slow-Moving & Ageing Stock

– Conduct a monthly ageing review across all categories.

– Recommend action on stock held beyond 12 months — reposition, re-photograph, exchange with vendor, rework or melt.

– Quantify capital blocked in ageing stock and track its reduction.

6. Visual Merchandising

– Maintain showcase standards to the VM checklist — theme, density, price-band logic, lighting and presentation.

– Rotate displays on a defined cadence so slower stock receives fresh exposure before it ages.

– Plan and execute stock selection and display for exhibitions and events.

– Coordinate product photography for catalogue and e-commerce.

7. Reporting

– Weekly: buffer status, shortage risks, missed sales, open order position.

– Monthly: inventory turns by category, ageing analysis, gross profit contribution by category, vendor performance.

Requirements

Essential

– Graduate — Commerce, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Supply Chain, or a merchandising / retail business qualification.

– 3–6 years in inventory planning, merchandise planning, category management or stock management in retail. Jewellery experience is welcome but not required — we will seriously consider strong candidates from apparel, watches, eyewear, footwear or other high-SKU retail.

– Genuinely strong Excel. Pivot tables, lookups, SUMIFS, and the ability to interrogate a large data export. This is tested during the interview process.

Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
