Job Purpose:

Consult, design, and deliver everything related to databases and data – acquire, maintain, transform, migrate, analyze.

Design, code, or configure, test, debug, deploy, document, and maintain large and/or complex programs, using a variety of software development toolkits, programming languages (PL/SQL specific), testing/verifying applications, while adhering to specific development best practices and quality standards.

Job Responsibilities:

Architect technical solutions to obtain, process, store, and provide insights based on processed data.

Define and implement best practices in data modeling within a complex, distributed financial application with strict scalability and availability requirements.

Install and maintain databases, related tools, and required technologies.

Develop PL/SQL packages, procedures, and functions according to business requirements in UNIX and Windows environments.

Develop other artifacts for data extraction, transformation, and loading.

Translate user stories into technical solutions that perform at large scale.

Adopt best practices to implement reliability measures: HA, fault tolerance.

Adopt best practices to implement scalability measures: load balancing, partitioning, sharding, caching.

Adopt best practices to implement consistency measures: timeouts, retries, pessimistic locking.

Evaluate, benchmark, and improve the scalability, robustness, efficiency, and performance of RDBMS.

Tune complex artifacts for OLTP as well as batch processing.

Write reconciliation and reporting programs.





Educational Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related area.

Key Skills:

Database – RDBMS, Distributed, Data, Performance Engineering, HA, Integration.

Advanced SQL knowledge and experience working with relational and NoSQL databases.

Expert in design, development, and implementation of applications using popular database technologies: Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Cassandra, etc.

Experience in working with cloud services (with any dominant provider) is preferred.

Experience Required:

4 to 7 years of experience in design and development, particularly in databases (relational and otherwise).

3+ years of experience in data engineering.

Major Stakeholders:

Internal: Engineering Leads, Product Owner, Business domain experts, IT audit, BTG Unit heads.

External: Partners, prospective suppliers.
