We are looking for a skilled, compassionate, and responsible Labour Room Staff Nurse to provide secure and high-quality nursing care to mothers throughout labour, delivery, and the immediate post-delivery period. The candidate will work closely with obstetricians, paediatricians, and the nursing team to ensure smooth and safe maternal and newborn care.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor patients throughout the stages of labour and maintain accurate clinical records.
- Monitor maternal vital signs, uterine contractions, and fetal heart rate.
- Assist obstetricians during normal and assisted deliveries.
- Prepare the labour room, instruments, equipment, and patients for procedures.
- Maintain strict infection-control and aseptic practices.
- Administer medications, IV fluids, and treatments as prescribed.
- Assist in managing obstetric emergencies according to established protocols.
- Provide immediate post-delivery care to the mother.
- Assist with initial newborn care and handover to the appropriate clinical team.
- Monitor patients during the post-delivery observation period.
- Maintain accurate nursing notes, medication records, and other documentation.
- Ensure availability and readiness of emergency drugs and equipment.
- Provide emotional support, reassurance, and appropriate guidance to patients and their families.
- Maintain patient privacy, dignity, confidentiality, and safety at all times.
- Coordinate effectively with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
Qualifications
- B.Sc Nursing / GNM
- Valid registration with the State Nursing Council / appropriate regulatory authority
- Additional certification in BLS/ACLS is an advantage.
Experience
- 1–3 years of Labour Room / Obstetrics & Gynaecology experience preferred.
- Experience in handling deliveries and obstetric emergencies will be an added advantage.
