Job Summary
The Duty Medical Officer is responsible for providing timely medical care to inpatients and emergency patients, monitoring patient conditions, coordinating with consultants, and ensuring proper clinical documentation and patient safety throughout the duty period.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend to patients promptly and assess their medical condition.
- Conduct regular rounds and monitor vital signs and clinical progress.
- Attend to emergency and urgent medical situations and initiate appropriate management.
- Review and follow consultant treatment orders.
- Inform the concerned consultant promptly about any significant change in the patient's condition.
- Obtain specialist opinions as advised and ensure proper follow-up.
- Ensure proper bedside handover before leaving the ward or duty area.
- Review investigation reports and communicate significant findings to the concerned consultant.
- Ensure medications, investigations, procedures, and treatment plans are carried out as prescribed.
- Coordinate with staff nurses and other departments for effective patient care.
- Verify and sign relevant medical and nursing documentation as required.
- Prepare and explain discharge advice under the guidance of the treating consultant.
- Ensure proper documentation of admission, progress notes, emergency care, transfers, and discharge.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
- Follow hospital policies, clinical protocols, infection-control practices, and patient-safety standards.
- Assist in maintaining smooth coordination between consultants, nursing staff, patients, and attendants.
- Escalate critical cases and adverse events immediately to the appropriate authority.
- Participate in audits, quality initiatives, training programs, and other hospital activities as assigned.
Qualifications
- MBBS from a recognized medical institution.
- Valid medical council registration.
- Previous hospital/clinical experience preferred.

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹45,000.00 per month
