Description

The L3 Network Security Engineer is responsible for providing senior-level technical expertise, operational leadership, and escalation support across complex enterprise security and network infrastructure environments. The role focuses on the design support, implementation, optimisation, and troubleshooting of advanced network security technologies to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of customer environments.

Key Responsibilities

- Investigate perimeter and security incidents

- Monitor security-related network events

- Ensure network access controls align with security policy

- Support secure edge connectivity (ZTNA, VPN policies)

- Manage authentication, firewall and perimeter policies

- Maintain DC perimeter and segmentation controls

- Own firewall policy governance, rule management and perimeter security

- Approve security-related network configuration changes

- Validate security configuration automation

- Ensure secure segmentation and access controls

- Review security controls impacting performance

- Maintain security policy documentation

- Analyse security event patterns and perimeter performance

Key Requirements

- Extensive experience in network security engineering,



cybersecurity operations, or enterprise infrastructure environments

- Advanced understanding of networking technologies including TCP/IP, routing, switching, VPNs, SD-WAN, segmentation, and secure network architecture

- Strong hands-on experience with enterprise security platforms such as Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco Firepower/ASA, Check Point, Zscaler, or equivalent technologies

- Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex security and connectivity incidents across enterprise and hybrid cloud environments

- Experience designing, implementing, and optimising firewall policies, VPN solutions, intrusion prevention systems, secure remote access, and network segmentation strategies

- Advanced understanding of cybersecurity principles including zero trust, least privilege access, threat mitigation, vulnerability management, and security hardening

- Experience supporting cloud security technologies and architectures within AWS, Microsoft Azure, or hybrid cloud environments

- Familiarity with SIEM, logging, and security analytics platforms such as Splunk, Sentinel, QRadar, or equivalent tools

- Strong experience performing root cause analysis, threat investigation, and operational security troubleshooting

- Understanding of security compliance and governance frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST, CIS Controls, GDPR,



or equivalent standards

- Experience with automation and scripting technologies such as Python, PowerShell, or Ansible would be advantageous

- Familiarity with ITIL-aligned operational processes including Incident, Change, Problem, and Major Incident Management

- Strong technical documentation skills with the ability to produce operational standards, security procedures, and low-level technical designs

- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage effectively with technical teams, leadership, vendors, and customers

- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CCNP Security, Check Point CCSA/CCSE, or equivalent are highly desirable
