Role Background: This position involves setting up and managing the special education and inclusion department at Redbricks School. This department will focus on the development and implementation of individualized education programs for students with disabilities / special needs. It will also undertake initiatives to foster a school-wide inclusive culture and environment, and work with the core academic team to adapt the general education curriculum, instructional strategies and assessment practices to make them more accessible to a diverse range of learners.

Responsibilities:

Special Education

1. Strategize and set up the special education and inclusion department at Redbricks School, including building a team of special educators, infrastructure, resources, and systemic processes needed to cater to students with special needs within the school.

2. Establish and manage a dedicated learning resource room for 1:1 and small group support to students with special needs.

3. Develop and manage a school-wide identification process for students with special needs in order to promote identification and intervention.

4. Develop and manage Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) of students with special needs in collaboration with multiple stakeholders.

5. Recruit, train and coach special educators and shadow teachers to work effectively with students having special needs, and to implement the IEPs.

6. Maintain data, track & report progress of all students having IEPs regularly.

7. Integrate Occupational Therapy (OT) support within the school system and supervise its effective implementation.

Collaborate with parents and external therapists/ professionals working with students having special needs.

9. Collaborate with the school psychologists to ensure mental health and wellbeing of students having diverse needs.

School-wide Inclusion

10.Collaborate closely with Academic leaders and curriculum teams to adapt general curriculum, instructional strategies, and assessment practices to make them more accessible to a diverse range of learners using UDL principles & best practices outlined by the NEP and educational boards.

11. Foster the effective adoption of technology to make education more accessible and personalized for students with diverse needs.

12.Support teachers through coaching, training, and classroom collaboration in order to effectively cater to students having diverse needs within their classroom.

13.Guide improvements in the school infrastructure and classroom design to support diverse learners.

14.Foster a school wide culture of inclusion through training and advocacy initiatives, school wide practices and collaboration with multiple stakeholders.





15.Develop and contribute to the formulation of important policies & processes required for enabling effective inclusion of students with special needs in the school.

16.Develop and manage external collaborations and affiliations to foster the school’s goals of special education and inclusion.

17. Undertake action research projects to help the school measure and track its success and impact with regard to school inclusion.

Qualifications

● Master’s Degree in Special Education / Inclusive Education / Learning Disabilities / Developmental Psychology OR B.ed in Special Education (LDs / Autism / Multiple Disabilities)

● RCI Registration preferred.

● 5–10+ years of experience in inclusive school or special school settings, preferably in a managerial or leadership role.

● Experience in curriculum adaptation, individualized program planning and teacher training & collaboration.

● Familiarity with MTSS (multi-tiered system of supports) and Universal Design for Learning.
