The following Key Result Areas (KRAs) shall form an integral part of the contractual responsibilities of the Manual QA / Software Tester. The employee is expected to perform the assigned responsibilities with accuracy, ownership, timely execution, and adherence to project and company quality standards.

1. Requirement Analysis & Test Planning

- Analyze BRD, PRD, functional specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Identify functional, business, technical, and edge-case scenarios.
- Prepare comprehensive test scenarios and detailed test cases.
- Ensure adequate test coverage for assigned modules and features.
- Identify ambiguities, missing requirements, and potential risks before testing begins.

2. Manual Testing

- Perform manual testing of web and mobile applications.
- Execute Smoke, Sanity, Functional, Regression, and Retesting activities.
- Validate features against approved requirements and expected business workflows.
- Perform positive, negative, boundary-value, and exploratory testing.
- Ensure assigned testing activities are completed within defined timelines.

3. Mobile Application Testing – Highest Priority

- Test Android and iOS applications on both real devices and emulators.
- Validate application installation, updates, upgrades, and uninstallation.
- Test application permissions and permission-denial scenarios.
- Perform screen orientation testing.
- Validate application behaviour during network interruptions.
- Test offline, slow, unstable, and poor-network conditions.
- Validate application behaviour during incoming calls and SMS interruptions.
- Perform device compatibility and OS-version compatibility testing.
- Observe application performance and stability across different devices and configurations.

4. Web Application Testing

- Perform functional and workflow testing of web applications.
- Conduct cross-browser compatibility testing.
- Validate responsive UI across different screen sizes and resolutions.
- Test forms, validations, mandatory fields, error messages, and user inputs.
- Perform negative testing, boundary-value testing, empty-input testing, and special-character validation.
- Use browser Developer Tools for troubleshooting and validation.
- Inspect console logs and identify client-side errors.
- Validate network requests, responses, headers, and relevant parameters.

5. Defect Identification & Management

- Identify, reproduce, document, and track software defects.
- Log defects using Jira or other approved defect-management tools.




- Prepare explicit and complete bug reports containing:
- Issue summary
- Environment/build details
- Preconditions
- Steps to reproduce
- Expected result
- Actual result
- Severity
- Priority
- Screenshots
- Screen recordings/videos
- Relevant logs or supporting evidence
- Track defects through their complete lifecycle.
- Perform retesting after defect resolution.
- Conduct regression testing to ensure fixes do not impact existing functionality.
- Communicate critical and blocking defects immediately to the concerned team.

6. API Testing

- Perform REST API testing using Postman.
- Validate HTTP status codes and response times.
- Verify request and response payloads.
- Validate authentication tokens and authorization behaviour.
- Test CRUD operations.
- Validate positive and negative API scenarios.
- Execute and maintain Postman Collections as required.
- Verify API responses against expected application behaviour.

7. Database Testing

- Perform basic database validation using SQL.
- Write and execute simple SELECT queries.
- Verify application data against backend/database records.
- Validate data creation, modification, retrieval, and deletion where applicable.
- Identify data inconsistencies between frontend, API, and database layers.

8. Documentation & Reporting

- Maintain accurate test cases, test execution records, defect reports, and testing documentation.
- Prepare testing status reports as required.
- Clearly communicate test progress, blockers, risks, and unresolved issues.
- Maintain proper evidence for completed testing activities.
- Ensure all documentation is updated according to project requirements.

9. Collaboration & Communication

- Work closely with developers, Product Managers, Business Analysts, and other stakeholders.
- Participate in requirement discussions, sprint planning, reviews, and defect discussions when required.
- Clearly communicate technical issues and testing observations.
- Coordinate with developers for defect reproduction and resolution.
- Escalate critical quality issues in a timely manner.

10. Quality Assurance & Ownership

- Take complete ownership of assigned testing modules.




- Ensure adequate test coverage before providing testing sign-off/recommendation.
- Proactively identify potential risks and quality gaps.
- Ensure no major known defect is overlooked before release.
- Follow defined QA processes, standards, and project timelines.
- Continuously improve testing approaches and contribute to overall product quality.

11. Required Technical Skills

The employee is expected to demonstrate working knowledge of:

- Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC)
- Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
- Manual Testing
- Mobile Application Testing
- Web Application Testing
- API Testing
- Postman
- Basic SQL
- Jira or similar defect-management tools
- Test case and test scenario preparation
- Defect reporting and tracking

12. Preferred / Additional Skills

Exposure to the following technologies and testing practices will be considered an added advantage:

- FinTech Application Testing
- Selenium
- Playwright
- Appium
- Newman
- JMeter
- BrowserStack
- Charles Proxy
- CI/CD testing
- Automation Testing

13. Performance Expectations

Performance shall be evaluated based on:

- Quality and completeness of test coverage.
- Accuracy of test case preparation and execution.
- Timely completion of assigned testing activities.
- Effectiveness in identifying critical and edge-case defects.
- Quality and clarity of defect documentation.
- Mobile, web, API, and database testing capability.
- Ability to independently reproduce and troubleshoot issues.
- Collaboration and communication with technical and non-technical teams.
- Ownership, accountability, and adherence to QA processes.
- Contribution towards improving overall product quality and release readiness.

Contractual Accountability

The above KRAs are subject to the requirements of the projects assigned to the employee and may be revised, expanded, or updated based on business, client, product, or project requirements. The employee shall be responsible for fulfilling the assigned KRAs within the agreed timelines and maintaining the quality standards prescribed by the organization.
