Position summary
The Senior Manager – Engineering Excellence will establish and scale engineering practices that improve how software is designed, tested, released, and continuously improved across Enterprise Technology Services.
The role will focus on Quality Engineering, Test Automation, engineering standards, delivery quality, developer productivity, and engineering maturity. It will enable engineering teams rather than own application delivery, combining practical technical leadership with enterprise governance and change management.
Key responsibilities
Engineering excellence strategy and governance
- Define and maintain enterprise engineering standards, lifecycle practices, and governance principles.
- Establish a practical engineering maturity framework, including adoption measures, health checks, and improvement plans.
- Create lightweight governance that improves consistency without slowing delivery.
- Identify gaps in engineering practices and lead targeted improvement initiatives across ETS.
Quality Engineering and Test Automation
- Lead the enterprise Quality Engineering and Test Automation strategy.
- Promote shift-left testing, risk-based testing, automation, and quality ownership throughout the software lifecycle.
- Establish reusable testing approaches, frameworks, patterns, and guidance for engineering teams.
- Improve release quality through quality gates, defect prevention, automation adoption, and continuous feedback.
- Partner with delivery teams to improve test effectiveness, maintainability, and execution efficiency.
CI/CD and engineering productivity
- Drive consistent quality practices within CI/CD pipelines and release processes.
- Identify and scale tools, automation, and practices that improve developer productivity.
- Evaluate and promote appropriate AI-assisted engineering practices, with attention to quality, security, governance, and responsible adoption.
- Use engineering data to identify bottlenecks and improve development and release flow.
Metrics, reporting,
and continuous improvement
- Define engineering KPIs and quality measures that support informed decision-making.
- Develop engineering dashboards, scorecards, and leadership reporting.
- Establish baseline measures and track improvement over time.
- Present insights, risks, and transformation progress to ETS India and senior technology leadership.
- Lead communities of practice, knowledge-sharing forums, and continuous improvement programs.
Stakeholder and change leadership
- Build strong relationships with engineering, architecture, security, operations, and business technology leaders.
- Influence adoption through collaboration, coaching, data, and practical enablement rather than relying solely on formal authority.
- Communicate standards and changes clearly to globally distributed teams.
- Balance enterprise consistency with the needs and maturity of individual technology groups.
Required Experience
- 14+ years of progressive experience in Enterprise Technology, Corporate IT, Digital Engineering, Quality Engineering, or Technology Transformation.
- 5+ years of experience in Engineering Leadership, Quality Engineering Leadership, Technical Management, or a comparable enterprise transformation role.
- Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, and scaling engineering standards, SDLC governance, Quality Engineering, or engineering transformation practices across multiple teams.
- Solid experience establishing and scaling enterprise Test Automation frameworks and quality practices.
- Experience improving SDLC processes, release quality, engineering lifecycle management, and delivery governance.
- Experience supporting enterprise platforms such as ERP, CRM, HR, Finance, ITSM, or collaboration technologies.
- Experience working with globally distributed engineering teams and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to influence change through governance, coaching, communication, and collaboration rather than direct authority alone.
- Experience presenting engineering metrics, risks, and transformation initiatives to senior technology leadership.

- Experience with AI-assisted development, developer experience, or engineering productivity programs.
- ServiceNow experience or exposure to comparable enterprise workflow platforms.
