BUSINESS UNIT DESCRIPTION:

The Shared Platform Technologies, Personal Banking & Direct Financial Services Technology, provides Tier 1 service for Retail Banking and parts of Wholesale Banking, as well as key enterprise technology capabilities such as Enterprise Customer Information, and Enterprise Integration and Messaging Services.

JOB PURPOSE:

The Services Developer is responsible for the successful delivery of complex, enterprise-scale application development projects, primarily focusing on back-end Java development within CIBCs SPT Team. This role plays a key part in CIBCs digital transformation by designing, developing, and supporting multiple applications, ensuring innovative, cost-effective, and scalable technology solutions in alignment with the banks business goals. The incumbent will provide technical leadership and mentorship within the ECIS Team, supporting project delivery and fostering a team-oriented team environment.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Design and Development:

- Perform and coordinate complex application programming activities, ensuring high-quality, robust solutions.
- Design technical infrastructure using specific databases, programming languages, utilities, and testing approaches.
- Lead the design and development of cost-effective and innovative solutions for enterprise-scale projects.

Strategic Planning:

- Develop multi-year technology roadmaps that align with CIBCs vision, strategy, and business goals.
- Lead multiple complex projects involving backend systems, new technology adoption, and enhancement of existing applications.

Leadership:

- Act as the backend services development team lead, running code-review sessions to ensure project alignment and quality.
- Support and mentor intermediate and senior developers by sharing knowledge, collaborating, and problem-solving.

CROSS-FUNCTIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

- Collaborates with project managers, solution architects, business analysts,



and other technical teams to ensure effective project delivery and integration of backend services.
- Works closely with the ECIS Team and other application development teams to share best practices and align on technical standards.
- Interfaces with external vendors and partners as required to support technology adoption and project delivery.

JOB DIMENSIONS:

- Accountable for the delivery of backend services and solutions impacting multiple business lines and stakeholders.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

- Education: Bachelors degree or equivalent in Computer Science or a technical discipline.

Experience:

- Over 7 years of experience in designing, developing, implementing, and supporting applications, with expertise in:
- Java 1.8 & Java 21 and above, J2EE, Spring, SpringBoot
- Git & Github, OpenShift, Docker, CaaS
- RDBMS, SQL, Oracle
- Building Web Services (REST, SOAP, GRPC)
- Nice to have: Jboss, CI/CD, Shell Scripting
