Overview :
This position requires the candidate to hold a postgraduate qualification in English literature.
You will report directly to the Deputy Managing Editor and/or anyone else designated by him/her.
You will maintain high-quality communication and excellent relationships with fellow editors, authors, designers, and stakeholders in the organization.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities : Scope of work includes, but is not limited to the following
Copy edits, proof, and prepare titles for publication, all the way up to production and plotters
Liaising with commissioning editors, authors, and other stakeholders
Maintain positive work relationships and high quality and prompt (usually within 24 except weekends and holidays) communication with fellow editors, and authors.
Marking copy with standard proofreading marks to notify authors and editors of necessary changes
Ability to rephrase, and rewrite portions of text for better readability
Checking facts and statistics to ensure the accuracy of the text




Knowledge of referencing footnotes and endnotes
An eye for standardization and consistency of house style throughout the book and across all titles
Demonstrate eagerness to develop editorial knowledge and proficiency

Review and edit with standard proofreading as per timelines
Regular and timely liaison with authors

Other
Provide guidance, training, and assistance to fellow editors or any other colleague(s) as assigned .
Act as a Liaison between Authors and the Organization
Communicate in a qualified and personable manner with editors, and authors.
Promptly (within 24 hours, except weekends and holidays) inform your manager of any written (or other) communication you receive from editors /authors that are tense or critical in nature and any appreciation.
