Job Purpose and Impact
The Software Engineer – Ag & Trade will design, develop, and maintain scalable, high quality software applications that support Cargill's Ag & Trade business. The ideal candidate is a hands-on Full Stack Engineer with strong expertise in JavaScript/TypeScript, React or React Native, up-to-date backend technologies (Node.js or equivalent), and a passion for building enterprise-grade applications. This role partners closely with Product Managers, Architects, UX Designers, QA Engineers, and fellow Software Engineers to deliver secure, reliable, and performant software solutions. The engineer will leverage up-to-date engineering practices, AI-assisted development tools, and cloud-native technologies to accelerate delivery while maintaining high engineering standards. The role also actively participates in technical design discussions, code reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Accountabilities
SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT

Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable software applications using JavaScript/TypeScript for backend and frontend development.



Build clean, reusable, maintainable, and well-tested code following software engineering best practices.

FULL STACK APPLICATION DEVELOPMENT

Develop end-to-end web and mobile applications using React or React Native, backend APIs, database integrations, and contemporary UI frameworks to deliver intuitive user experiences. Design and develop secure RESTful APIs, backend services, authentication mechanisms, and data access layers while ensuring application scalability and performance.

AI-ENABLED ENGINEERING

Leverage AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, ChatGPT, Claude, Amazon Q, or similar tools to improve engineering productivity. Experience integrating LLM APIs or AI-powered capabilities into applications is desirable.
