Job Summary

The Advocate / Legal Officer is responsible for providing legal advice, ensuring statutory compliance, managing litigation, drafting and reviewing legal documents, and safeguarding the legal interests of the institution. The role supports the management and HR department in employment matters, contracts, labour law compliance, dispute resolution, and regulatory requirements applicable to educational institutions.

Key Responsibilities
Legal Advisory
Provide legal advice to the Management on employment, education, contractual, and operational matters.
Interpret and advise on applicable laws, regulations, and government notifications.
Identify legal risks and recommend appropriate solutions.
Labour & Employment Law
Advise HR on disciplinary proceedings, domestic enquiries, employee misconduct, suspensions, terminations, resignations,



and settlements.
Draft and review employment contracts, appointment letters, warning letters, charge sheets, show-cause notices, suspension letters, termination letters, and settlement agreements.
Ensure compliance with labour laws, including:
Shops & Establishments Act
Payment of Wages Act
Minimum Wages Act
EPF & MP Act
ESI Act (where applicable)
Payment of Bonus Act
Payment of Gratuity Act
Maternity Perk Act
POSH Act
POSCO
Industrial Relations Code and other applicable labour regulations.
Litigation Management
Handle legal notices, replies, and correspondence.
Coordinate with external advocates and legal consultants.
Represent the institution before Labour Authorities, Labour Commissioner, Educational Authorities, Consumer Forums, Tribunals, and Courts, where authorized.
Monitor ongoing legal matters and maintain litigation records.
