Job Description of a Staff Nurse

A Staff Nurse is responsible for providing secure, effective, and compassionate nursing care to patients while working as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Duties and Responsibilities
Assess patients' physical and mental health conditions.
Monitor and record patients' vital signs and symptoms.
Administer medications, injections, and intravenous (IV) therapy as prescribed.
Assist physicians during examinations, procedures, and surgeries.
Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans.
Provide wound care, dressings, and other nursing procedures.
Educate patients and their families about disease prevention, treatment, medications, and self-care.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and documentation.
Ensure infection prevention and control measures are followed.
Respond promptly to medical emergencies and provide basic and advanced life support when required.
Coordinate with doctors, pharmacists, laboratory staff, and other healthcare professionals to ensure quality patient care.




Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to skilled ethics.
Ensure proper use and maintenance of medical equipment and supplies.
Supervise and guide junior nursing staff, nursing students, and support staff when required.
Participate in quality improvement programs and continuing professional development.

Qualifications
Diploma, B.Sc., or equivalent qualification in Nursing.
Valid nursing registration/licensure with the relevant nursing council.
Valuable communication, critical thinking, and clinical decision-making skills.
Ability to work in shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Knowledge of infection control, patient safety, and emergency care procedures.
