Job Description – Hotel Maintenance

Job Summary

The Maintenance Manager will be responsible for overseeing the overall maintenance, repair, safety, and smooth functioning of the hotel’s facilities, equipment, and building systems. The role requires strong technical knowledge, team-management skills, and the ability to respond quickly to maintenance and emergency situations while ensuring minimal disruption to guests and hotel operations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Facility Inspection & Maintenance

- Conduct regular inspections of hotel rooms, public areas, kitchens, restaurants, banquet spaces, rooftops, and other facilities.
- Identify maintenance issues and ensure timely resolution.
- Monitor electrical, plumbing, HVAC, water supply, generators, lifts, fire-safety systems, and other essential building systems.
- Ensure all hotel equipment and infrastructure remain safe and operational.

2. Preventive Maintenance

- Develop and implement regular preventive maintenance schedules.
- Maintain records of inspections, repairs, servicing, and equipment performance.
- Identify potential equipment failures before they affect hotel operations.
- Coordinate regular servicing and maintenance of critical hotel equipment.

3. Team Leadership

- Supervise maintenance staff, technicians, electricians, plumbers, and other service personnel.
- Allocate daily maintenance tasks and monitor completion.
- Train team members on safety procedures, equipment handling,



and maintenance standards.
- Ensure proper discipline, productivity, and coordination within the maintenance team.

4. Emergency Response

- Respond promptly to electrical failures, plumbing emergencies, equipment breakdowns, water leakage, power outages, and other urgent maintenance issues.
- Develop and maintain emergency response procedures.
- Coordinate with hotel management and relevant departments during emergencies.
- Ensure emergency situations are handled quickly while prioritizing guest and employee safety.

5. Budget & Cost Control

- Prepare and monitor the maintenance department budget.
- Control maintenance-related expenses without compromising safety or quality.
- Monitor inventory of spare parts, tools, and maintenance supplies.
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors for repair and servicing requirements.
- Evaluate repair-versus-replacement decisions for equipment.

6. Safety & Compliance

- Ensure compliance with hotel safety standards and applicable statutory requirements.
- Regularly inspect fire-safety equipment, electrical systems, emergency exits, and other safety installations.
- Maintain proper maintenance and safety documentation.




- Ensure contractors and maintenance staff follow required safety procedures.

Required Skills & Qualifications

- Diploma/Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering, or a related technical field preferred.
- Previous experience in hotel maintenance, facility management, or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, generator, and general building maintenance.
- Good team-management and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and efficiently.
- Strong communication and coordination skills.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance and safety procedures.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays when required.

The ideal candidate should be a hands-on, responsible, and technically competent professional who can independently manage the hotel's day-to-day maintenance operations, lead a maintenance team, respond effectively to emergencies, and ensure that all hotel facilities remain safe, functional, and guest-ready.

Pay: ₹10,000.00 - ₹15,000.00 per month
