Role & responsibilities
Job Summary
The Senior HVAC Service Engineer is responsible for overseeing the installation, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, testing, and commissioning of HVAC systems. The role involves leading service teams, ensuring customer satisfaction, maintaining compliance with safety standards, and optimizing HVAC system performance across residential, commercial, and industrial projects.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of HVAC systems.
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on Chillers, VRF/VRV systems, AHUs, FCUs, Package Units, DX Units, Split ACs, and Ventilation Systems.
Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, and control system faults.
Supervise service technicians and subcontractors during maintenance and repair activities.
Develop preventive maintenance schedules and ensure timely execution.
Conduct inspections to ensure systems operate efficiently and meet design specifications.
Review HVAC drawings, layouts, schematics, and technical documentation.
Coordinate with clients, consultants, vendors, and internal project teams.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations, statutory requirements, and company policies.
Prepare service reports, maintenance records, root cause analysis (RCA), and technical documentation.
Monitor inventory of spare parts and recommend procurement when required.
Support warranty claims and after-sales service activities.
Train and mentor junior engineers and technicians.
Attend emergency breakdown calls and ensure minimum downtime.
Recommend energy-saving initiatives and system optimization measures.
Participate in annual maintenance contract (AMC) planning and execution.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or HVAC Engineering.
HVAC certification or equivalent technical qualification is preferred.
Additional certifications in Refrigeration, Controls,
or Building Management Systems (BMS) are an advantage.
Experience
18+years of experience in HVAC installation, maintenance, and service.
Experience in commercial buildings, malls, hospitals, hotels, IT parks, residential townships, or industrial facilities.
Experience managing service teams and customer relationships.
Technical Skills
Solid knowledge of HVAC equipment and systems.
Experience with:
Chillers (Air-Cooled & Water-Cooled)
VRF/VRV Systems
AHU & FCU
Cooling Towers
Package Units
DX Systems
Split & Cassette AC Units
Ventilation & Exhaust Systems
Understanding of refrigeration cycles and psychrometrics.
Knowledge of HVAC electrical controls and automation systems.
Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS).
Ability to read HVAC drawings and P&ID; diagrams.
Working knowledge of AutoCAD and MS Office.
Knowledge of preventive maintenance software or CMMS is preferred.
