Opening for Payment Posting
Overview: The Payment Poster is responsible for accurately posting payments and adjustments received from insurance companies and patients to the appropriate patient accounts in the medical billing system. This role plays a key part in the Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) process by ensuring all payments are processed promptly and correctly to maintain accurate accounts receivable records.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and post daily payments (EOBs, ERAs, patient payments) into the billing software/system.
- Reconcile payments against claims to ensure correct posting.
- Identify and resolve payment discrepancies, including underpayments, overpayments, and denials.
- Apply appropriate adjustments such as contractual allowances, copayments, and write-offs.
- Collaborate with the billing and collections team to investigate and resolve payment-related issues.
- Ensure compliance with payer-specific rules and healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA).
- Balance batch totals to ensure accuracy and completeness of postings.
- Maintain organized records of posted payments and deposit reports.
- Assist in month-end reporting and reconciliation of payments.
