We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Paint Shop Technician to oversee and maintain our paint application processes, surface preparation, and coating equipment. In this role, you will ensure coating consistency, monitor chemical baths and spray parameters, troubleshoot defect issues, and maintain high standards of quality, safety, and environmental compliance.

Key Responsibilities

- Process & Equipment Operation

Setup, operate, and monitor automated and manual painting systems (e.g., robotic sprayers, bell applicators, electro-deposition/ED tanks, curing ovens).

Calibrate and adjust application parameters such as flow rate, atomization pressure, spray patterns, line speed, and oven temperature profiles.

Prepare, mix, and test paints, primers, sealers, clear coats, and thinning solvents to target viscosity and formulation specifications.

- Troubleshooting

Perform routine preventive maintenance and cleaning on paint lines, fluid delivery lines, spray guns, filtration systems, and exhaust/booth scrubbers.

Identify and correct finish defects in real time (e.g., orange peel, runs, sags, fisheyes, pinholes, dry spray, contamination).

Assist maintenance engineers during changeovers, nozzle replacements, and robotic path adjustments.

- Quality Assurance & Testing

Conduct coating quality checks including Dry Film Thickness (DFT), gloss levels, adhesion tests (cross-hatch),



color match verification, and hardness testing.

Maintain accurate daily logs of paint consumption, batch numbers, chemical titration results, and quality metrics.

- Safety & Environmental Compliance (EHS)

Follow all hazardous chemical handling, storage, and disposal protocols (MSDS/SDS).

Manage solvent recovery and hazardous waste handling in compliance with local environmental regulations.

Strictly adhere to PPE requirements (respirators, anti-static suits, safety gear) and explosion-proof equipment standards.

Required Qualifications & Technical Skills

Education: High school diploma, ITI / Technical Certificate, or Associate Degree/Diploma in Mechanical, Chemical, Automobile Engineering, or related discipline.

Experience: [0–5+] years of hands-on technical experience in an industrial or 0utomotive paint shop workplace.

Technical Knowldge

In-depth understanding of paint chemistries (solvent-borne, waterborne, 2K systems, powder coatings, or e-coat/CED).

Familiarity with coating thickness gauges, gloss meters, and viscosity cups (e.g., Zahn/Ford cups).

Basic understanding of automated paint spray robots (e.g., FANUC, ABB, Dürr) is a plus.

Skills: Strong visual acuity for color differentiation, mechanical aptitude, and root-cause troubleshooting skills.
