Role Summary The Technical Product Manager (TPM) is responsible for leading the end-to-end development of pharmacy software solutions, with a strong emphasis on system design and architecture integration. This role combines technical expertise, product strategy, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver scalable, secure, and compliant applications. The TPM owns the system design process—partnering closely with solution architects and engineering teams to define service boundaries, data flows, and integration patterns. Operating within the Scaled Agile Framework (Secure), the TPM drives product planning and execution across Agile Release Trains, aligning closely with the Solution Product Manager to ensure that user stories contribute effectively to feature implementation and business outcomes.
Responsibilities
Product Strategy & Roadmap
Align with the Solution Product Manager to ensure product vision and roadmap reflect business priorities and system capabilities.
Translate business needs into technical requirements and system-level user stories.
Own product backlog prioritization and refinement in collaboration with engineering, architecture, and business stakeholders.
Agile Execution (Scaled Agile Framework – SAFe)
Serve as Product Owner within Agile Release Trains (ARTs), contributing to PI Planning, System Demos, and Inspect & Adapt workshops.
Define and manage user stories that support feature delivery, ensuring clarity, acceptance criteria, and traceability.
Collaborate with Release Train Engineers (RTEs), Scrum Masters, and System Architects to ensure timely delivery of pharmacy software capabilities.
Participate in Lean Portfolio Management activities, including Epic prioritization and capacity allocation.
Use tools like Aha! and Jira to manage product workflows and visibility across teams.
System Design & Architecture Collaboration
Lead system design efforts, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture standards and pharmacy-specific requirements.
Define service interfaces, data contracts, and integration points across internal and external systems.
Collaborate with architects to evaluate trade-offs in scalability, performance, and maintainability.
Ensure system designs support observability, security, and compliance needs.
Stakeholder Engagement
Collaborate with pharmacy operations, compliance, engineering, analytics, architecture, and user experience teams to ensure solutions meet business, technical,
and usability goals.
Participate in customer release testing and implementation activities to validate readiness and ensure smooth deployment.
Lead or support customer demos and behavioral feedback interviews to gather insights and inform future iterations.
Present product updates and roadmap progress to leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
Technical Oversight
Partner with engineering teams to ensure alignment with the enterprise tech stack and infrastructure standards.
Support observability and performance monitoring using enterprise tools and practices.
Customer Advocacy
Act as the voice of pharmacists and pharmacy techs, incorporating feedback into product iterations.
Ensure usability and compliance with healthcare regulations and audit standards.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field.
4+ years of experience in technical product management, preferably in healthcare & pharmacy domains.
Strong understanding of SAFe and Agile methodologies.
Experience with system design, microservices architecture, and cloud deployment.
Familiarity with observability tools, CI/CD pipelines, and security scanning tools.
Excellent communication, facilitation, and organizational skills.
Preferred
SAFe certification (e.g., POPM, SAFe Agilist) is a plus.
Experience working with enterprise architecture teams and system design documentation.
Knowledge of regulatory compliance in healthcare (HIPAA, DEA). Experience with pharmacy-related platforms or services.
