Job Title: Senior WordPress Website Administrator & Developer

Role Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Senior WordPress Website Administrator & Developer to manage, optimize, and maintain our company website. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring our WordPress platform runs smoothly, securely, and at peak performance. Beyond core maintenance, you will bring industry best practices to modernize our site architecture and empower our non-technical team members to manage and publish content effortlessly.

Key Responsibilities

1. Site Maintenance & Technical Operations

- Updates & Health: Perform routine updates of WordPress core, plugins, and custom themes while ensuring zero downtime or broken functionality.
- Security & Compliance: Implement and maintain robust security protocols (firewalls, SSL, malware scanning, user permissions, and security plugins) to protect against vulnerabilities.
- Backup & Recovery: Oversee automated daily backups, staging environments, and disaster recovery plans.

2. Content Workflow & User Experience

- CMS Optimization: Build and maintain clean, modular content management structures (e.g., custom Gutenberg blocks, Advanced Custom Fields (ACF), flexible templates) so team members can publish content easily without touching code.
- User Training & Governance: Document CMS guidelines, manage user roles/access, and train marketing and content teams on best publishing practices.
- UX/UI Improvements: Collaborate with designers and marketers to implement responsive layout updates, landing pages, and interactive features.

3. Performance & Technical SEO

- Speed & Core Web Vitals: Continuously optimize page load times, image assets, database queries, and caching mechanisms to achieve excellent Core Web Vitals scores.
- Technical SEO:



Ensure clean code structure, schema markup, XML sitemaps, canonical tags, and proper redirection management (301s) in partnership with our SEO strategy.
- Analytics & Tag Management: Assist in maintaining Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics 4, and tracking scripts.

4. Custom Development & Integration

- Custom Code: Write clean, standards-compliant PHP, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS/SASS when custom functionality or styling is required.
- Third-Party Integrations: Connect WordPress with external tools such as CRM systems, email marketing platforms, payment gateways, and custom APIs.
- Version Control: Maintain code repositories (Git) and staging-to-production deployment workflows.

Required Qualifications & Skills

- Experience: 4+ years of hands-on experience managing and developing custom WordPress sites in a production environment.
- Technical Proficiency:
- Advanced knowledge of modern PHP, MySQL, HTML5, CSS3/SASS, and JavaScript (ES6+).
- Deep experience with block-based editing (Gutenberg block development) and Advanced Custom Fields (ACF).
- Strong familiarity with contemporary hosting platforms (WP Engine, Kinsta, Pantheon, AWS, or similar).
- Expertise with version control systems (Git) and deployment pipelines.
- Best Practices: Strong background in web security, database optimization, CDN management (Cloudflare), and caching solutions (Redis, WP Rocket, etc.).
- Communication: Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and write clear internal documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with headless WordPress or REST API / GraphQL integration.
- Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA compliance).
- Experience with page builders (e.g., Elementor) and migration away from legacy builders to clean Gutenberg/ACF setups.
- Basic understanding of UI/UX design principles and toolsets (Figma, Adobe XD).
