- Masala UAE is looking for a savvy, dynamic Senior Reporter to deliver engaging news content across its website wwwmasalacom in its India office
- You must be passionate about getting a scoop, have an eye for spotting a brilliant news story and boundless enthusiasm for bringing big, exciting news to life
- Joining the Masala launch team based in India, you ll be working in a fast-paced environment, and will play an important role in keeping the brand energy high
- You will follow the footsteps of the Dubai office to create a structure hand in hand with them, and ensure the team of Junior Reports and interns can rely on you for guidance Key responsibilities:
- Drive Masala to the front of breaking news under Bollywood and Entertainment.
- 15 articles on the website, or web stories, 6 days a week.
- 1 day of the weekend can be WFH.
- Be Masala s POC for all things India-related.
- Pitch, plan and write news stories and exclusives you ve worked with a network of contacts to secure for the brand, from designers to influencers and ultimately celebrities.
- Work to ensure Masala is the first to identify a potential story.
- Work with social media team and all staff in Dubai to create successful article/ web story content, be ready to jump in front-of-camera when required.
- Make sure all content is executed in line with Masala s SEO and social strategies.
- Support the Editor in the overall production, execution and management of Masala s digital, social and print products.
- Alongside the Editor and SEO Manager, ensure Masala s editorial global standards are met, all relevant copyrights have been cleared, content is optimized for SEO and content meets local and legal guidelines.
- Regularly post and create content, which may include sponsored or offer-based content, to social media.
- Work with a small,
but a talented editorial team to populate an editorial calendar. Keep it current, identifying commercial and audience opportunities within it and communicating them to other teams.
- Support the sales team by generating content strategies and establishing good relationships with PRs and artist managers.
- Maintain a sheet of artist managers and actively grow Masala s network within the industry.
- Arrange video interview opportunities for Dubai and India team.
- Liaise with production crew to ensure the best videos of Masala s IG and YouTube.
- Have your finger on the pulse of the local scene; use your professional contacts and social-media networks to be the first to identify the next big thing.
- Act as an effective brand ambassador for Masala and an evangelist for our brand in the Indian market.
- Undertake movie reviews and attend events outside of office hours, or on weekends.
- Should know how to lead a team.
Requirements - A do-er , and always willing to take on current challenges.
- Data driven and excited by analytics.
- News and entertainment background preferred.
- Superb organizational skills.
- Able to work creatively and efficiently under pressure and to tight deadlines.
- Bursting with a wealth of ideas that can be used across all of Masala s platforms.
- A demonstrable passion for and excellent knowledge of digital content creation.
- Highest standard of accuracy and attention to detail.
- A strong industry reputation. (will do a background check)
- Flexibility and a professional approach at all times.
- Softwares: Wordpress, Google Analytics (essential), Photoshop (desirable), Canva (must know).
- Education: Must have an undergraduate degree or equivalent industry qualification
- Minimum 3 years of experience in India s Bollywood and Entertainment industry.
