Role Purpose:
A results-driven Package Mechanical Engineer with 10 years of experience in Conceptual Design, Pre-FEED, FEED, Detailed Engineering, Proposal Engineering, and Field Engineering for EPC/EPCI projects in the **Offshore Wind, Oil & Gas (Upstream & Downstream), Refinery, and Utility sectors. Experienced in managing the complete engineering lifecycle of mechanical packages, from specification and procurement through vendor management, installation support, and commissioning,
while ensuring compliance with international codes, client specifications, and project requirements.
Designation: Senior Engineer I – Package Mechanical Engineer - Global Service Centre
Base Location: Chennai
Reporting to: GSC EPC Manager.
Key Role Responsibilities:
- Lead the engineering, design, specification, and execution of mechanical packages for Offshore Wind Substations (OSS), Offshore Reactive Compensation Platforms (ORCP), and Oil & Gas facilities.
- Develop equipment specifications, datasheets, material requisitions (MR), technical requisitions (TR), and procurement documentation for mechanical packages.
- Perform technical bid evaluations (TBE), review vendor quotations, and provide technical recommendations during supplier selection.
- Review and approve vendor documents, drawings, calculations, and manufacturing procedures to ensure compliance with project specifications and applicable standards.
- Coordinate the engineering and integration of utility systems, including:
- Liquid Management and Pollution Prevention Systems
- Open and Closed Drain Systems
- Diesel Generator Packages
- Diesel Storage and Transfer Systems
- Platform Cleaning Systems
- Utility Water Systems
- Lead the specification and integration of lifting equipment, including Main Cranes, Davit Cranes, Life Raft Cranes, Ultra Headroom Hoists for GIS buildings, and Portable Jib Cranes.
- Coordinate the engineering and design of fire protection systems, including inert gas suppression systems, foam systems, and portable fire extinguishers.
- Perform Cable Pull-In Studies, winch equipment selection, pulling load assessments, and installation engineering for offshore cable installation activities.
- Interface with Process, Structural, Piping, Electrical, Instrumentation, Civil, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning teams to ensure successful package integration.
- Provide engineering support during procurement, fabrication, inspection, factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), installation,
commissioning, and offshore start-up activities.
- Participate in design reviews, HAZID, HAZOP, constructability reviews, and risk assessments to ensure safe and reliable package design.
- Monitor engineering deliverables, resolve technical issues, and ensure package execution is completed within project schedule, budget, and quality requirements.
- Liaise with clients, vendors, classification societies, and third-party inspection agencies throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support proposal engineering activities, including technical clarifications, equipment selection, cost estimation, and bid preparation for new EPC opportunities.
