WHY THIS ROLE EXISTS

Marseer AI is a modular AI activation platform for DTC and retail e-commerce brands. At the center sits a Brand Strategy Module — an intelligence layer that defines who a brand is, so every channel module (email, SMS, paid media, SEO, affiliate) inherits that same context.

damStack is our Snowflake-native, dbt-driven data and marketing activation product: roughly 14 composable applications built on a Listen → Reflect → React architecture, each running inside the customer's own Snowflake data warehouse. It powers identity resolution, segmentation, journey orchestration, and omnichannel activation.

We are hiring a Senior Data Engineer to help build it. This is a small, senior team — you will own systems, not tickets.

WHAT YOU'LL ACTUALLY DO

- Own dbt models end to end — staging, intermediate, and mart layers for customer identity, segmentation, journey orchestration, and activation outputs. Incremental models, snapshots, tests, macros.
- Build SQL-based rule engines in Snowflake for priority resolution, frequency capping, and activation orchestration.
- Contribute to the damStack Open Schema — our registry-driven semantic layer that surfaces a unified customer_360 view to every downstream app.
- Move data both directions with Airbyte (MongoDB ↔ Snowflake, Snowflake → Klaviyo), and orchestrate dbt runs, sync jobs, and cross-pipeline dependencies in Dagster.
- Work directly with client brands: understand their sources and schemas, translate them into our standardized activity schema and entity resolution framework, and fix the data quality problems that real customer data brings.
- Write and defend design decisions in Engineering Design Documents,



and own data quality tests, monitors, and alerting across the pipeline.

NON-NEGOTIABLE
- 5+ years of professional data engineering experience
- Advanced dbt (Core or Cloud) — incremental models, snapshots, tests, macros, multi-layer DAG design
- Robust hands-on Snowflake — DDL/DML, Snowflake Tasks, query optimization, multi-tenant data architecture
- Expert-level SQL — window functions, CTEs, complex joins, performance tuning
- Availability to work US business hours, overlapping US Eastern or Pacific, for client collaboration and team standups

STRONGLY PREFERRED

- Airbyte or a comparable ELT/connector platform, including bidirectional sync
- Dagster, Airflow, Prefect, or similar pipeline orchestration
- SaaS or data product experience shipping reusable, multi-tenant data infrastructure
- Identity resolution patterns, surrogate key architectures, or customer data platforms (CDPs)
- Experimentation frameworks or A/B testing data pipelines

GOOD TO HAVE

- Klaviyo or another marketing activation / ESP platform
- MongoDB or document-store integrations
- Retail or e-commerce data domains

WHO DOES WELL HERE

You take a problem end to end and flag blockers early rather than waiting to be told what is next. You care about schema naming, test coverage, and documentation — not just making the pipeline run green. You are comfortable working asynchronously with a distributed team across design, engineering, and client-facing functions. And you can write a design down, not only implement one.
