Senior BI Engineer WebFocus to Looker Conversion

Work location : Hyderabad/Pune/Chennai/Bangalore

Work mode : Hybrid

Shift: 1 PM IST to 10 PM IST

Year of Experience: 712 years of overall BI experience, including 3–5 years of WebFOCUS and advanced SQL, and 2–4 years of hands-on Looker/LookML development.

Senior BI Engineer responsible for migrating legacy WebFOCUS reports and dashboards to Looker. The role includes analyzing WebFOCUS report logic, converting data preparation requirements into SQL, developing LookML models and Looker dashboards, and validating results with business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

- Analyze WebFOCUS reports, procedures, calculations, filters, prompts, and dependencies.
- Convert WebFOCUS data preparation and reporting logic into SQL.
- Develop LookML models, views, dimensions, measures, joins, and Explores.
- Design and build Looker dashboards and visualizations.
- Recreate report functionality and layouts where appropriate.
- Identify platform differences and recommend equivalent Looker solutions.
- Optimize SQL, LookML, Explores, and dashboard performance.
- Validate migrated reports against WebFOCUS outputs.
- Support requirements gathering, UAT, defect resolution, and business sign-off.
- Document migration decisions, assumptions, validation results, and handoff details.
- Use Claude or similar AI tools for conversion, validation, and code refinement where appropriate.
