VACANCY FOR PURCHASING ENGINEER

Company Description:

Established in 2009, Revata Engineering is a manufacturer of high-performance elastomer seals, engineering thermoplastic components, and precision-machined metal parts for the Oil & Gas industry. The company operates an integrated R&D; and manufacturing facility at MIDC Bhosari, Pune, holds ISO 9001:2015 and runs a NABL-accredited in-house testing laboratory.

Role Description:

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Purchasing Engineer to manage end-to-end procurement across Revata's three core commodity groups: rubber and polymer raw materials, metals and machining, and tooling. The role covers sourcing, vendor development, negotiation, purchase order execution, and follow-ups to ensure timely availability of materials for uninterrupted production.

The Purchasing Engineer will also ensure specification compliance, batch traceability, and supplier documentation in line with the Quality Management System.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Procurement Operations:

- Handle purchase requirements from PR/indent stage through RFQ, comparative statement, negotiation, and PO release.
- Ensure purchase orders clearly specify material grade, drawing and revision, quantity, delivery timeline, inspection and testing requirements, and documentation needs.
- Follow up with suppliers for on-time delivery, expediting where required to support production schedules.
- Coordinate with Stores and Quality for GRN closure, material receipt confirmation, and discrepancy resolution (rate, quantity, specification).

2. Rubber & Polymer Procurement:

- Source base polymers (NBR, HNBR, FKM, EPDM, silicone), compounding ingredients (carbon black, fillers, curatives, plasticizers, process aids), and engineering thermoplastics (PEEK, PTFE, POM, cast nylon) against approved grades and specifications.
- Verify batch numbers, manufacturing dates, shelf life, and CoA/test certificates for every lot, and ensure storage and handling requirements reach Stores.




- Coordinate with R&D; and Compounding on approved sources, alternate grades, and trial material requirements.

3. Metals & Machining Procurement:

- Procure bar stock, plates, and forgings in carbon steels, alloy steels, stainless steels, and corrosion resistant alloys with mill test certificates conforming to ASTM/API specifications.
- Develop and manage machining subcontractors for turned, milled, and ground components, ensuring correct drawing revisions, tolerances, and inspection requirements flow down to vendors.
- Source surface treatment and metal preparation services, including for rubber-to-metal bonded components.

4. Tooling & Consumables Procurement:

- Procure compression and injection molds, and develop mold makers for recent tooling, repairs, and modifications against Revata's tooling drawings and delivery schedules.
- Purchase cutting tools, inserts, toolholders, fixtures, and gauges for the machine shop, along with production and laboratory consumables.
- Arrange external calibration services for instruments and gauges as per QMS schedules.

5. Vendor Sourcing & Development:

- Identify, evaluate, and develop reliable vendors across all three commodity groups, and maintain the Approved Supplier List in line with API Spec Q1 requirements.
- Evaluate vendor performance on quality, delivery, responsiveness, and cost, and drive corrective actions with suppliers where needed.
- Support supplier visits, assessments, and improvement initiatives with critical vendors.

6. Documentation, Cost Control & Coordination:

- Ensure completeness of supplier documents such as invoices, mill test certificates, CoA, CoC, inspection reports,



and traceability records, keeping procurement files audit ready.
- Negotiate pricing and commercial terms to achieve cost-effective procurement without compromising quality or delivery, and track open PO status, lead times, delays, and savings.
- Work closely with Production, Planning, Quality, Stores, and Accounts for smooth material flow, and monitor consumption of critical items to avoid shortages.

Who Should Apply:

Purchase professionals from engineering manufacturing setups who understand materials and can read technical drawings. You should be equally comfortable negotiating with polymer suppliers, steel stockists, machining subcontractors, and toolmakers, and disciplined about documentation, traceability, and follow-up.

Must Have Qualifications:

- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical, Production, Industrial, or Polymer Engineering.
- 3 to 6 years of purchase experience in an engineering manufacturing setup.
- Working knowledge of at least one core commodity group: rubber and polymer raw materials, metals and machining, or tooling.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and material specifications.
- Strong negotiation skills, follow-up discipline, and coordination with internal teams and suppliers.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and Word.

Optional/Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience in Oil & Gas, sealing products, rubber, or precision machining industries.
- Exposure to API Spec Q1 or ISO 9001 purchasing controls and Approved Supplier List management.
- Familiarity with ASTM material standards and mill test certificate review.
- Working knowledge of ERP systems.

Office Timings: Monday to Saturday (8:30 AM to 5:30 PM)
