Product Owner (Software Lifecycle)
A Software Lifecycle Product Owner is responsible for guiding a product through its entire lifecycle - from concept and development to deployment, maintenance, and retirement. They ensure strategic alignment with business goals, coordinate across stakeholders, and drive continuous improvement so the product delivers value at every stage.
Core Responsibilities
- Define product vision → Establish goals and roadmap across the full software lifecycle.
- Manage lifecycle stages → Oversee concept, development, deployment, maintenance, and retirement.
- Prioritize features → Balance business needs with technical feasibility.
- Coordinate stakeholders → Align IT, business, and customer teams throughout the lifecycle.
- Ensure delivery quality → Monitor testing, release readiness, and compliance.
- Drive continuous improvement → Gather feedback, track KPIs, and evolve the product.
- Plan retirement/migration → Manage end‑of‑life transitions responsibly.
Qualifications
- Strong Product Management skills, including backlog ownership, roadmap planning, and stakeholder alignment.
- Proficiency in Business Analysis and Analytical Skills to translate customer needs into requirements and data-driven decisions.
- Effective Communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams and presenting product vision and updates.
- Understanding of Software Development processes, agile methodologies, and technical constraints to work closely with engineering teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or a related field; advanced degrees or certifications in Product Management or Agile (e.g., CSPO, PSPO) are beneficial.
- Experience working as a Product Owner or in a similar product-focused role in technology or software organizations.
- Ability to prioritize multiple initiatives, make trade-off decisions, and deliver outcomes in a fast-paced setting.
- Familiarity with product analytics tools, requirement management tools, and agile project management platforms (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps) is an advantage.
